Devcon Plastic Steel Putty is a high-strength, steel-filled epoxy putty ideal for metal and concrete repairs without welding. It sets within an hour, fully cures in about 16 hours, and becomes fully machinable—delivering excellent strength and chemical resistance.
Devcon Plastic Steel Putty is a steel-filled, two-part epoxy putty designed for repairing, rebuilding, and bonding metal surfaces without the need for welding or brazing. It cures at room temperature into a dense, durable metallic mass that can be drilled, tapped, machined, or painted, making it ideal for industrial maintenance, equipment repair, and structural restoration. It bonds to steel, aluminum, concrete, and some plastics, with excellent resistance to oil, gasoline, water, and many chemicals—yet remains non-sag for easy vertical or overhead application.
This epoxy offers about 45 minutes of working (pot) time at room temperature, with a full cure in approximately 16 hours. Thicker sections can reach handling strength in 4 hours, while full machinability becomes possible after complete cure. With a mix ratio of 2.5:1 by volume, it achieves around 2,800 psi tensile strength, 8,260 psi compressive strength, and a Shore D hardness of ~85. It withstands temperatures up to 120 °F when wet and 250 °F when dry.
